Less than six months after releasing his hotly anticipated debut full length “True Theory” to critical acclaim, North West favorite Luck-One returns with a brand new mixtape and proclaims himself king.
Well aware of the nearly two year lull between his initial offering Beautiful Music with producer Dekk, and True Theory, Luck returned to the studio in mid June and completed nearly the entire project in just under two weeks.
Set to release as a free download August 30th, Luck gives us a taste of what’s to come with the first leak entitled Breakthrough. On this track the rapper most known for his aggressive lyrical barbs takes a step back to give us some introspection and examine his place in the industry wherein he struggles to make a mark.

Cale Sampson is a socially conscious hip hop artist from Toronto, Ontario. He is the self proclaimed “Jesse Ventura of Hip Hop” as well as the inventor of a new sub-genre of hip hop music called “info-rap”. This genre of music challenges mainstream beliefs by presenting complex socio-political material in the form of easy to understand rap songs which are structured more like personal essays than traditional song formats. This unique method of social commentary invites listeners to question authority, and the very nature of accepted truth, by encouraging people to become enlightened and to think for themselves.
In 2008, Cale Sampson started his solo career and joined forces with some of Canada's most prominent hip hop producers, including Classified and DJ Kemo of The Rascalz. He has performed with such acts as Guru from Gang Starr, Aceyalone, The Hilltop Hoods, Eyedea & Abilities, and Scratch from The Roots. His debut album, “Cale Sampson” received highly positive reviews from the critics and peaked on both the Earshot and ChartAttack charts as the #3 most played hip hop album on Canadian college radio. In 2009, Cale Sampson was also named “Best Songwriter of the Year” by NOW Magazine for their annual “Best of T.O.” edition. This was a rare acknowledgement, as it was the first time the honor had ever been awarded to a hip hop artist.
With a style that has been described as “the skill of Eminem with the conscience of K’naan”, Cale Sampson is not your average rapper. Rather than focusing on typical commercial rap subject matter, his songs address the holistic flaws in modern-day society while expressing an urgency to bring about public awareness and positive change on a global scale. Due to this unique perspective, Sampson has begun to inspire a younger generation of emcees, while also capturing the attention of people who don’t normally listen to hip hop music by forcing them to look at it in a different and more respected light.
With his grassroots background and strong internet presence, Cale Sampson is quickly accumulating an International cult following of fans who are rapidly spreading his music across the globe. He has become particularly popular on social networking websites such as Youtube, where in a very short period of time he has amassed tens of thousands of fans. This loyal group of supporters is only continuing to grow, as Sampson’s message-oriented music attracts more and more listeners worldwide.

With more than 1,000 plays off the AWKWORD soundcloud page alone, "Mr. President (The Wisconsin Song)", featured first on RockTheDub.com's five-year anniversary compilation Fif, led activists and video editors alike to reach out to the team -- American emcees Y-Love & AWKWORD and legendary Norwegian producer The White Shadow -- behind the popular protest song with ideas for creating an official video.
Due to conflicting schedules, Yitz and AWK were unable to link in Wisconsin, but they received hours of exclusive live video footage of the Wisconsin protests (from the streets to the Capital building), as well as an offer from Michael Dobsevage to create that video, splicing in footage of AWKWORD and Y-Love performing live. The 3+ minute video is an inspiring look at how Hip Hop music can create the ideal backdrop for revolution.
Since its official release, "Mr. President (The Wisconsin Song)" has been featured on a range of Hip Hop blogs, as well as major political sites The Nation and Daily Kos. Most recently, the song appeared on DJBooth.Net & RevoltRadio.com's Revolutionary Riot Report Vol. 15 and The GYMR Top 25 Songs of 2011 (Half-Year Review).
As Dobsevage writes on his youtube page, "This is a war on workers being waged by right-wing politicians and their corporate and wealthy backers. We need to fight back against this assault!" And we need your help to do this. So, please, watch, comment, like, favorite and share this unexpected, well-crafted video. DOWNLOAD HERE

"Public Eye" is a remake of the classic Brand Nubian track "All 4 One". The video places Cons literally in front of the "Public Eye" so speak. While in front of giant 35mm camera, Cons performs this white-hot verse in the midst of the lens displaying what he describes in his rap.

For many years, flourishing artists experiencing success are often faced with criticism and sometimes disdain. Since releasing Culture Shock, the Portland Hip-Hop group Animal Farm has been met with a predominately great response and an increased interest in their music. However, no accomplishments come without naysayers. Animal Farm's satirical new video "What I Do" is a story, loosely based on a handful of newer artists, who are not so happy about the group's success. In this video, which was directed by Phil Haleen, the group maintains the message that they are focused and will just keep "doing what they do".
