Quote (MAK_The_Lucid_Tongue)
we as CHRISTians celebrate it as the birth of our saviour, while we may not have the date right the meaning is there - all that 'pagan' bullshit is also said to have stemmed from them knowing that Christ was coming on that time period
this sentence actually contradicts itself.
the first part of the sentence you say christians got the date wrong, the the second half you say pagans celebrated their pagan beliefs because they knew christ was coming during that time? but how can that be if the date was wrong? which means christ didn't come at that time. its a historical fact that the pope wanted christmas celebrated on this day because of the pagan beliefs pretty much all churches acknowledge this. theres nothing wrong with it, they were just looking for a day to celebrate his birth and figured december 25th was the perfect day because thats when people celebrated the suns light coming into the world, and Jesus said he was the light of the world.
