Also, what 3 tracks did Kool Herc sample to create his first "merry-go-round" as he called it that is considered by all those who were at Herc's block parties to be the birth of hip hop music (NOTE: this was not the beginning of hip hop as graffiti, particularly that of Philly artist Taki182, started a few years prior).
yeah but at that time graffiti wasn't considered hip hop it was just graffiti, it was kool herc's parties which bought it all together as a culture.
Wrong... Again. The term "hip hop" wasn't coined until 76 when Cowboy came up with it. Herc's first party was in 73. The reason Taki182 was the true first hip hop artist is because he started bombing trains in 69, 4 years before Herc started DJing and Herc was actually also a graff artist which is the only reason the music and the graffiti are tied together. He was actually a graff artist before he was a DJ. He started doing graffiti a few months after Taki because it had gotten popular quickly. They call Herc the father though because he invented the music which is the most important part and he did all of it except the breakdancing (I am pretty sure he didn't breakdance).
what 'tribe called quest' song sampled this song @ 0:28 - 0:31
