Here it is the highly-anticipated debut album from the supergroup (which consists of Hip Hop powerhouses; Royce da 5'9", Crooked I, Joel Ortiz, and Joe Budden). Depending on how much you hyped its release you will either be
a. disappointed but not entirely unsatisfied (contradictory lol)
b. completely satisfied and got the album you've been expecting plus some
c. just what you expected (for good or for worse)
Me personally I got wat I wanted with this (not 100% excellent) but still great debut from the supergroup. This album plays more like a mixtape (which isnt necessarily a bad thing) than an fulfilled LP unlike Royce was hyping it up to be. Still pretty good regardless.
The album (mixtape lol) starts off with the track "Sound Off" which shows the MCs lyrical prowess in a fast-paced tag team style mic hand off. Royce opens it up with comparing the group to Voltron, giving each member a different body part (ironically calling himself the general, but I cant complain since he remains superior throughout the whole album). Crooked I is equvilent to 4 arms (but voltron only had 2 ), Joell the body, and Joe Budden gets stuck with the legs (sadly he couldnt stand strong on any of the tracks lol).
Some may be disappointed because Woodstock isnt on the album but Onslaught 2 makes up for it with pure lyrical genius.
Royce opens the track (which becomes somewhat casual throughout the album) with a furious verse then tosses the hot potato to Crooked I who in return heats it up then tosses it to Joell who heats it up even more then flings it to Joe Budden who couldnt take the heat and drops the potato along with the mood of the whole song....Not knocking Joe Budden but when your teamed with Crooked, Royce, and Joell, you gotta pull some tricks from that signature low fitted hat of yours...He's talented but i wasnt shocked with his constant let-downs...You would think someone who has the audacity to challenge a legend (Method Man) would bring some dope rhymes, but not joe...I see why Jay-Z let him go from Def Jam (LMAO!)
But to wrap this review up, if your into hardcore/punchline/mixtape raps this album is a definate must-get..Whether your willing to wait to buy it or download it now, its your decision. Just get the damn thing and bump this ASAP!
