Quote (eboyd) yeah, but first of all, wouldn't you be mad if, say, you produced "They Reminisce Over You" and Pete Rock got the credit for it, plus when you consider that that beat you made 5 grand off of, Dre made $1 million from, that would get me heated Do producers know they aren't gonna get credit those beats? If they don't then I can see your point. Kanye West ghost produced some No I.D. beats also.

Sometimes, it's just good to ghost-produce just to get your foot in the door of the business. If it wouldn't for 'Ye ghost-producing for dudes like No I.D., he probably would have the fame he has now. Quote (eboyd) 90% of the production on 2001 was Hittman, Daz DaZ? no way daz actually made a diss record to dr. dre in 1998 about stealing production so why the hell would he be on it the next year? and hittman wrote most of dre's rhymes not the beats. Mel-Man was credited with producing every beat except for "The Message", Scott Storch credited for co-producing Still D.R.E and some other songs. Hittman paid publishing rights for the rhymes he ghostwrote for dre, Hittman said in an interview that that was what kept him fed all these years. Lord Finesse was credited alone for producing "The Message".

other than "Hip Hop" by Dead Prez, secretly made by Ye, i'd say my favorite CREDITED Ye beat is "Testify." i do find it lame though that producers hire ghost producers. that totally defeats the purpose and makes hip hop wack. the guy doing production for me (who is AWESOME btw! his album is linked on our RHHF Artists page) said that he would be dying to give Dre or someone his beat for $5000 and have Dre make millions off of it. i found that disappointing. fuck that. i take credit for all of my work and my work only. i feel like that's a bitch move from both parties; not only are you selling your art out, but he's buying. fuck that.

So u find that takin credit for ur work and havin no one hearin it is more important than sharin a piece of art and allowin people to hear it? I guess I'm more about just puttin good musik out into the world.

idk about you but i would rather make my music as an expression of me and send it out to the world myself, not have some jackass pretend like it's his production, regardless of how little promotion it gets.
