I think it was either....Jay-Z or Common or who the fuck ever said this and it struck a nerve inside me.
Around the time I heard this I was heavily into Canibus and back then I thought Canibus was a fucking Hip Hop Einstein. I mean Canibus had a wide vocabulary, quick lightneing battle flow, and the confidence. Then I heard that phrase and I realized....I dont kno waat the hell Canibus is EVEN talking about!!
Funny cuz I always had a feeling he was saying something deep beneath those complex rhymes, but even if something he did say made sense....he was rapping about absolutely nothing!!!!

I used to read dictionary before go to bed. That's a good thing for emcee. Canibus and Nas alot of times dont know what they talkin about, just like MF Doom. Also D.O.C. dropped a track "Secret Plan".... I was like WTF

Are you trying to stir up controversy today? Lol! Anyways, I agree on all of those artists doing that, especially Aesop Rock, (though he is still great and does often make very meaningful tracks), but I have to disagree on MF DOOM. Show me a lyric you are confused about and I'll tell you what he means, but also remember, his intention is to be a comedic villain, often, if not usually, making comically nonsensical rhymes that include literary devices such as non-sequiturs, puns, etc.

i always thought War Is Necessary was a stupid track esp when he says "war brings peace" it just sounded like something George Bush would say if he rapped but most of the time Nas knows what he's talking about, he knows a lot and reads a lot about black history etc
