This happens quite a bit with Guru lol!:

-on "I'm The Man" (1992. Jeru's debut) Jeru The Damaja DESTROYED the track. Guru was sort of impressive but Jeru was unfuckwitable.
-on "Militia Pt. 2" Rakim actually had one of his best verses ever. Even WC had a superior verse to Guru (not saying WC isn't dope, just isn't Rakim).
-on "Above The Clouds," Guru had one of his best, if not his very best verses... and then I heard Inspectah Deck's verse :o
-on the "You Know My Steez" remix with Kurupt and Lady of Rage, Kurupt most definitely had the superior verse and I'd even argue Rage's verse was superior to Guru as well (Rage is SICK AS FUCK too though!).

Does this go to say Guru sucks though? No. Just that he doesn't do well with guest spots.

lol you'd definitely be alone in that opinion. Jeru fucking DESTROYED that track. Guru was.... meh and this is practically a universal opinion, i swear. that is what made Jeru popular actually. people heard him drop a doper verse than Guru over a Prem beat and they were like "damn, Prem should fuck with him, not Guru!" as for "Above The Clouds," that is my favorite Guru verse as well, but INS was fucking GODLY on that track. this is also a pretty universal opinion.

Mobb deep featuring Kool G Rap and M.O.P. - Know Da Game

G rap clearly shines, though everybody is dope on that track.

Also, Pharoahe Monch outshines Mos Def on "Oh No" but of course, Nate Dogg outshines everybody.
