Describe how hiphop has affected your life, no matter how small or how big. For me, it got me into one of my true passions, punk rock. To be honest, I listen to 10000 times more punk than I do hiphop now-a-days. I still listen to hiphop quite a bit but wayy more punk rock. It's all because of Menace here at RHHF lol... If it weren't for me coming to the site, then me and Menace would have never come in contact. I'm too sleepy to write anymore. I'm sure anyone that has been here as long as I have, or longer, saw my progression and can see what i mean if they ever paid attention to the knowledge section or the general music section a while back.

hip hop has influenced me growing up from a very small age (can clearly remember sitting in the back seat listenin to early bone thugs and 2pac). it definitly has influenced the way i perceive a lot in the world, from questioning my religion to the pride i have in my nationalities. hip hop taught me to listen to all types of music through the samples used. i honestly think about it sometimes and if i didnt have hip hop i would have been an entirely different person. i do not think there has been a day in the past decade gone by without listening to a hip hop song. its had a rather large impact on me. kinda hard to sum up tho

Quote (abanks47) questioning my religion Quote (abanks47) hip hop taught me to listen to all types of music through the samples used these are probably the two things that hip hop has had the biggest impact with in my life. i'd also add that it has piqued my interest in politics and influenced me to ask myself some of my hardest philosophical questions which have strengthened my reasoning ability. Quote (abanks47) i honestly think about it sometimes and if i didnt have hip hop i would have been an entirely different person the same goes for me.

Quote (eboyd) i'd also add that it has piqued my interest in politics and influenced me to ask myself some of my hardest philosophical questions which have strengthened my reasoning ability. TBH I can't say I've ventured into the sampling aspect of it all yet, cause there is so much, and I have to find the special sample that makes me "Fuck yeah" but I'll find it eventually. Hiphop also got me into electronic music. Before hiphop, I had no respect for anything electronic because up until I was 13 or so, I thought that making a beat was as simple as hitting some shit on a keyboard and then putting a basic drum beat over it. I still don't necessarily like alot of electronic music, but it did get me into a few artists like Aphex Twin, Prefuse 73, and just listening to beats without the emcees, just for the sake of the music. It definitley helped me understand that no matter how you are making music, whether it be by banging pots and pans or by doing it on a computer, it's still art and it should all be respected at the very least, whether you like it or not. Unless it's Soulja Boy or Lil B.

LOL hip hop tried to force me to vote in 2004. Quote (ilikebacon3000) I still don't necessarily like alot of electronic music, same, i still dislike most but i can at least stomach some of it and even nod my head to a very select few tracks

Hip Hop has affected many aspects of my life. Hip Hop has affected the way I see the world, my country, my own city, the people around me, how I treat people, how I perceive life, and my morals. Im more open minded to ideas and opinions which expanded my point of view. I treat everybody with resepct and love (Thanks Shad), but I know who the snakes are (Thanks Nas).

well I think the biggest thing for me was how hip hop brought me to a wide range of music, and not only that but it got me to like those other genres as well. but hip hop isn't my biggest life changer paintings and artwork comes first for me.

Not in a religious way, but like... I can't explain it. It's just like every once in a while at a concert (I mean like a rock concert.. I mostly go to punk shows but you know what i mean), I'll see someone wearing a good hiphop shirt and I'll start a conversation. Sometimes this ends up in cyphering, and I don't normally rap, but when other people jump in, I do too... and we're all just expelling that positive energy (CYPHERING not battling, is what I'm talking about) through hiphop. And it really feels like everyone in the circle is connected in some way. We're all nodding our heads, some people are beating on the wall with their hand, while a few people are making the beatbox, and others are cyphering.. it's just that energetic connection of everyone in that spot spilling their heart out right there. It gets really emotional sometimes (not in a sad way, just really REAL. you know?) Sorry for the rant, but I think anyone that has been around that before knows I what I mean. It might be emotional cognition and acceptance within a group that causes it, I dunno.. But no matter what it is, it feels fucking AWESOME. And that's why I love hiphop.

I actually have run into all my cyphers in public. The best being outside a gas station. Some dude had a dijuardoo (however the hell you spell it... that Australian instrument that goes "ooooooo wooooobobbbbbbb wooooowwww!!!"). I was like "Dude play something for me!" and he started doing it, and then he started beatboxing WHILE playing. Then his friend jumped in and started laying down turntable sounds, and then some random ass guy came up and just started fucking BUSTING on it. I eventually jumped in and I was just going. Not even about like you know, like "Yeah I'm the best at ---- and I kill emcees!" type shit. Just stream of thought. You know, "The sky is blue, walking through gated doors and I'm freeing the mind" type shit. Not all of it even rhymed. But it didn't matter. It FEELS better when it's just GOING, rather than an emcee up there just trying to sound dope. We cyphered out there for like 10 minutes and since it was at a music fest, we drew a crowd of about 7 or 8 people, a few of which just jumped in with raps or jumped in and added instrument sounds. It's like sharing a special, personal experience with someone you've never met. NO HOMO lol! The guy gave me his website.. It was hiphop and psychedelic oriented.. I'll see if I can find it and maybe we can affiliate with them, cause the dudes that were with him were dope/real as fuck.

Since we're getting all serious.. Doesn't it make you really pissed that hiphop has been fucked up the ass? This video isn't hiphop, but it is about how hiphop and punk have been raped. It's by a New York City hardcore band named H20. listen to the lyrics.

It doesnt bother me. In the grand scheme of our human race, Hip Hop is quite insignificant. Im more worried about general issues like war, peace, foreign policy, stuff like that has the potential to either start a nuclear war or world peace.

Like I said hip hop doesn't affect me as much because I have had other hobbies before music. but I am simply anxiously awaiting for 2012 and everyday praying for something crazy to happen and maybe just maybe our world can come into contact with another race from another galaxy. Quote (Lord_Meth) In the grand scheme of our human race war, peace, and other problems don't matter. I hope that in my lifetime scientist figure out a way to travel in distances measured by entire galaxies.
