Anyone else think that more rappers like lil b and ofwgkta might be good for underground artists like the ones emseed posted? I mean lil b and tyler seem to be creating the only music that is provoking a response from hip hop as a whole. I think hip hop has been idle for so long that senseless music like what lil b makes might be a solution.

THIS
That is how I've felt about hiphop for so long... Adam, one day we were discussing how I didn't listen to alot of the shit people post on here because it's just too... i dunno, it's like IDLE. That's the word.
It's the same stuff.

Even if the response isn't positive, at least Lil B is creating conversation between people. OFWGKTA, I don't think it's necessarily easy to bash on them and call it a credible diss. Yeah, alot of their shit is based off of shock, but Earl is fucking ridiculous for his age, and they do alright given the fact that they have done nearly everything on little budget. It's also hella cool that they use all in house producing.
Tyler turned down Kayne. That's kind of cool in my opinion... It's cool that they are that confident with themselves.

Mmmm that sounds kinda lame tho. That make Hip Hop seems like its only active when there's somebody to hate on.
But I can also see how that is true cuz when Soulja Boy, Jeezy, TI, Wayne, Plies and all those trash rappers started blowing up everybody in the underground was making music to combat it, but as of now there's been a swtich in mainstream music. You got artist like J. Cole, Wale, Big Sean, Asher Roth, Kendrick Lamar, Royce da 5'9", Tyler the Creator and Mac Miller, MCs with fresh lyrical talent, making noise in the mainstream. Maybe that's why everything has been idle this year. The mainstream has been getting re-injected with lyrical-priority music.

WTF??! Mac Miller is fucking GARBAGE. the only thing he has going for him is dope production and even then he somehow sounds like shit because his rapping is so horrible. and many of the others you mentioned are, to an extent, kind of wack, but none quite as bad as Mac Miller.

mac miller is like the embodiment of the movie kids, in fact I think he probably watched it when he was younger and has taken the movie literally instead of seeing the underlying message..

i'm sorry but it's like motherfuckers on here are forgetting the whole point of this site. i'm not hating just to be doing so. someone brought up his garbage ass on this site as if he was good. all you have to do is spend 2 minutes listening to him to hear that he is a fucking horrible rapper. he reminds me of one of those stereotypical rich potheads who lives in his parents basement that has completely fried his brain cells to the point of no return. if we're going to tolerate garbage like that as a site that supposedly represents real hip hop, wtf else will we tolerate?

so you can't tolerate other people's opinions? maybe i think something you listen to is wack. just because you say it's wack doesn't mean it is, and just because I say I think something is good doesn't mean it is.
sorry supreme music reviewer you're right.

ok so Lil Wayne is the greatest rapper of all time, Soulja Boy saved hip hop, all hip hop older than 2000 is wack as fuck, lyrical shit is too complex, club/party shit is where it's at.

you can have your opinions all you want and so can someone else, but we're talking about real hip hop here, and Mac Miller is pretty much the opposite of that. i mean you can tell by his music that he has some pretty good influences, but as an emcee he sounds like just about every other amateur emcee i've heard who smokes too much and lives in his rich parents' basement. his lyrics are terrible, his flow/delivery sounds like stereotypical stoner whiteboy bs, etc. again, have your opinions, but if you like Mac Miller, and most of the music you listen to is like his, you probably don't belong on this site.

^^^ Bacon hit the needle on the head. I'm not in a military in which I have to abide by predetermined set of rules. The music I listen to is of my choosing.

I understand fully what this site represents, but sadly it's an idea that I no longer agree with. I'm a very open-minded person and I strongly believe that if somebody wants to do whatever they want to do, idc. If that means I'm not down for the site, so be it. The intolerance that our site was formed upon is against my belief anyway.

Oh btw, I'd listen to Mac Miller before I'd listen to boring Percee P and that homosexual Saul Williams.

this site is founded on an opposition to the traditional misrepresentation of hip hop by artists who, for the most part, have no clue what hip hop is and labels who try to hijack the culture. you can listen to Mac Miller all you want and i won't hate on your opinion, but for this movement to mean anything we need to stand firm on our principles and continue to promote the music that stays true to the culture and Mac Miller ain't it. listen to Mac Miller all you want, and have whatever opinions you please, but don't come on here promoting him. he's not a part of this culture.

he's not a part of this culture.

Coming from who's point of view? He's not perputrating a mindless thug or trying to be something he is not.
He's a white boy from the suburbs who likes things any normal teen would; weed, girls and clothes. He's being honest with himself and not trying to fit the strict image of a "Real" Hip Hop artist. Is that not "real" enough? Or does he have to rap about fictional MCs tryna constantly battle him, why he shouldn't be fucked with on the mic, or how he makes the crowd react when he raps? The kid is only 18. I never said he or anybody I mentioned was the savior of Hip Hop. I simply said that because of them the mainstream's focal point isnt solely on Lil Boosie, Lil Wayne or anybody of that nature. But yet, there's underground purist and old school hip hop heads who haven't listened to a Hip Hop record after 2001 hating on these new cats tryna do something different in the mainstream. I can now watch BET and see more homage being paid towards Nas and Eminem instead of T.I. and Lil Wayne because of these dudes. They at least deserve some respect for that.

that's fine, and i agree hip hop in some respects has gotten more exposure in the mainstream lately. i disagree that it has anything to do with Mac Miller, but i understand what you are saying. however, Mac Miller is no better than Lil Wayne, except for maybe by his beat choice. in fact lyrically speaking, Lil Wayne is actually superior. but of course that isn't the only factor that is important, i'm just saying that the kid is an amateur that got a chance to make it to the pros, no different from Lil B (at least he's better than Lil B though). he doesn't deserve the hype and he doesn't represent the culture. it's not only about being true to yourself. you can't just listen to ATCQ and Outkast and then go and claim you are a hip hop head. the kid is obviously a novice in the hip hop culture when it comes to his knowledge. he's like you when you first joined the site, claiming he's a hip hop head. that shit is not real hip hop.

my point, however, is the same point chinita has been making. the mainstream shit gets enough exposure on it's own. let's not perpetuate that. let's be different. let's represent the independent artists who deserve to make it but haven't yet for some reason.
