you can have your opinions all you want and so can someone else, but we're talking about real hip hop here, and Mac Miller is pretty much the opposite of that. i mean you can tell by his music that he has some pretty good influences, but as an emcee he sounds like just about every other amateur emcee i've heard who smokes too much and lives in his rich parents' basement. his lyrics are terrible, his flow/delivery sounds like stereotypical stoner whiteboy bs, etc. again, have your opinions, but if you like Mac Miller, and most of the music you listen to is like his, you probably don't belong on this site.
Alright.. let's say Dr. Dre never hit it big with NWA but somehow he still released the Chronic and snoop was still on the album and whatnot..
wouldn't that basically make the chronic a mac miller album? we can all agree that dre's lyrics on chronic are garbage yet we all praise it for the production and call it real hiphop. i don't know. it just seems to not make sense to me.
what if mac made his own beats but his lyrics were still wack? would he be regarded as real hiphop then? no. so why do we do that with dre?

He's a white boy from the suburbs who likes things any normal teen would; weed, girls and clothes. He's being honest with himself and not trying to fit the strict image of a "Real" Hip Hop artist. Is that not "real" enough? Or does he have to rap about fictional MCs tryna constantly battle him, why he shouldn't be fucked with on the mic, or how he makes the crowd react when he raps? The kid is only 18. I never said he or anybody I mentioned was the savior of Hip Hop. I simply said that because of them the mainstream's focal point isnt solely on Lil Boosie, Lil Wayne or anybody of that nature. But yet, there's underground purist and old school hip hop heads who haven't listened to a Hip Hop record after 2001 hating on these new cats tryna do something different in the mainstream. I can now watch BET and see more homage being paid towards Nas and Eminem instead of T.I. and Lil Wayne because of these dudes. They at least deserve some respect for that.

in the end, we all lose, or sell out, or something of that nature anyways, what's the point in proving all of this shit? it's all labeling. that is all it is. the music is still the same. the same music still exists. it will still get the same exposure. it all just comes down to right place, right time, for the most part. sometimes we don't always understand why something blows up. but it does for a reason.
like how tyler blew up. he just came out with the right shit at the right time.

that's cool but we shouldn't expect any real reaction from anybody from it. they remain underground for a reason, and it's because the vast majority of people are too fucking absentminded to give a shit about anything remotely important. what is important to us as individuals are not always important to them, and that's fine by me.
i think it's good to represent the underground artists but nobody should expect, or even WANT reaction from anybody outside of the underground community. the second the underground community starts aching for that reaction from the mainstream also is the second they begin doing shit from that point on for commercial recognition.
