Well i voted Nas because around where im from he's the voice and the truth of the people...atleast 18 or older doe the younger one's look 4 punchlines more(kinda y i rap da way i do) but he's dat 1 rapper where people won't agree 2 say how good he is but where everyone could have some type of respect 4 him...and i saw him and rakim at rock the bells and Nas made a waaaay betta show then him...hell i herd people say dey were disappointed at rakims performance but Nas carried(carries) himself as a complete MC and people follow....and he respects his elders so i appreciate him do n dat
Mainground RHHF rap 16-7-0 69%(if u round its 70% doe) tournaments won =1 tournament record: 4-3 exhibition record: 12-4

Fuck Nas Percee P bitches! (Rakim's a close #2) Illmatic is overrated as fuck and Nas isn't as great a lyricist as everyone makes him out to be.

I just happen to be astounded by Perce's flow and wordplay and the only reason he isn't a top 10 lyricist has to do with the fact that he stayed underground. If he followed the mainstream route when he was getting famous he would have been considered a contender with Rakim, KGR and BDK guaranteed. This isn't an opinion, it's a fact. As for Illmatic, that album sounds aged as fuck to me. Granted the track "NY State Of Mind" is fucking dope, but to me the beat to "Life's A Bitch" sucked. It was on some 1990's R&B shit which was the popular thing to do at the time and that kind of ticks me off. The rest of the beats sound so stuck in 1994 it's ridiculous. "Memory Lane," "It Ain't Hard To Tell" and "One Love" are all decent but I've heard better beats from all 3 producers and the closest thing to a potentially great track other than "NY State Of Mind" on that album is ruined by a line that competes for faggotry with some of Biggie's lines. In "Half Time" Na says "my style switched like a faggot." That line is just so gay and off putting to me that I can't listen to that track. I'm not a homophobe, but Nas isn't gay and that line just stands out and I think everytime I hear it "why couldn't Nas edit that out while he was writing that song?" That line was unnecessary and it didn't work as good wordplay at all, it just worked as bad faggotry.

Lol, everybody, and Ill, a lot of hip hop albums don't sound stuck in the time period they came from. That's what makes most of them classic. Of course then you have the exception where an album, Illmatic as an example (it is a classic, no doubt, I just don't consider it the epitome of hip hop), doesn't transcend time, but instead epitomizes the time period and location of where it came from. Therefore, there are 2 different types of classics. I tend to prefer the first kind (although LS is my favorite album and it epitomizes NY in 1995).
