You know I kinda agree.
I think way too many golden age cats try too hard to sound like the cats now days. Guru went from dropping knowledge to guntalk and twice as much cursing. Did he run out of intelligent things to say? The new EPMD album was dope, but they did the same thing that Guru has been doing on the last few Gangstarr albums. It's like they feel like they have to prove that they are as 'hard' as the current cats out there today. Many of the golden age cats are doing this now.

its cuz their moving on

Why would a rapper from 1989 still rap the same in 09...?

Wrong
All rappers go thru this change and theres people who arent ready for them to change yet so they get on their case about them not being as good as they used to be

The original formula that the fans loved you for in the first place should not be changed, otherwise you lose appeal. Which has been proven.

Ok so ur saying the formula GZA used on Words from the Genius shouldnt have been changed to the formula used in Liquid Swordz..?

well hes branching out and expanding his rhymes

Whose to say that u cant rap about guns after u just got done rappin knowledge?

Cmon its not like he means it...Hes a poet and a visionary and most of all a Lyricist

Lyricist shouldnt just limit themself to ONE topic to rap about

Yea its the same with Genius

He had to branch out from Words from Genius and grow out of the Golden Age

The Golden Age is wat crafted MCs into their current state but if they stayed in that era in their head, there would be no progress in their abilities or Hip Hop all together
