I honestly dont think if a kid sees a "Washington redskin" player on TV, he is going to think "I am an indian. I must be a football player." or "That guy must be indian because hes on the redskins" or "All indians play sports."
Thats just ignorance... The kid will learn and grow out of it. and its just a team name. I mean I can understand why people get pissed about it because when you label a team as a ethnic name, you are taking the image from the people. But I mean, its just a name. We are all people. Whoever said ethnic image means anything? I hang out with some mexicans, and they act "Whiter" than anyone you know. Just because they are mexican doesent mean they are going to portrey typical "Hispanic" charteristics or triats. People are people. It really doesent matter when you come down to it. IN the grand scheme of things, none of this matters. No one 300 years from now is going to care about ANY of this except maybe the wars and nuclear bombs and maybe SOME arts and sciences, but otherwise, all conflicts, whether it be social, economical, etc, is not really going to matter. The more we argue about stuff, the more we tear ourselves apart and come closer to blowing all of us up. Its just stupid. Call me a pacifist, I dont care. Call me ignorant, I very well am. Just dont blow me up.

let's call a football team the Niggers or the Coons or let's start and create a football team named the Kikes or the Juden's well not really why call them Redskins or other racist prerogative ?? let's be fair whit everybody here if we eliminated some basketball teams some 20 years ago for having racist names lets do it here too

Now see, I agree with that. I think its dumb if people are going to allow some names, and ban others. I dont agree with why their doing it, because someone could name a team the "Honky's" or the "Whities" and I honestly would get a kick out of it, because I know that if they ARE racist, they are just flat out ignorant, and if they arent racist, they are probley still making the name out of ignorance. But if people really want to fight over an issue that is seriously and honestly going to affect the whole human race, and if not dealt with properly could cause mass hysteria and death, let the people fight over it. I just think there are more important things to worry about right now than sports teams names.
Here in a few years, if they economy is still fucked, there wont be as big of a sports bussiness. I dont know much about the economy, I just know that it isnt good and its not getting any better with GM going under. I watched a show about how since GM is going under, it is affecting more than just them. So i mean I dont know there is just more important stuff out there at the moment
Maybe some other time.
Thats just my opinion though.

protesters should make shirts with Cleveland Africans or Washington Blackskins etc and go to the game with banners etc saying "GO THE BLACKSKINS"!! i think it would make a point, but then its a football game so it could lead to fighting or rioting.

I thought you were saying that since all native children will see is their name (Meaning Redskin, Chiefs, etc) being sold, they will feel like they are being sold as well. I just dont see it that way....
How do you beleive they will be offended?
By the way, I do think that Redskins should go regardless. Chiefs doesent necassarily have to be indian related if they just changed their logo some.

Well then I guess we should get rid of the Vikings, The Scotts, The Raiders, etc. They were all people. I agree in a way though.
