Quote (ill) put yourself on a pedestal cos you listen to "real" music Your saying what I say to others... I listen to everything. For crying out loud I liked Kanye's 808s & Heartbreak album. Quote (ill) and cos your so englightened things like jokes and happiness and not being a cunt arent worth your time I don't think I know a proper response to that..., but how is this happiness? And on top of all that. I have never seen you be serious, about anything. So you haven't the slightest bit of room to talk. Plus all I said was that these aren't jokes and aren't funny, and that they are just situation funny. Quote (8Diagrams) How do you stop a baby from choking? Take your dick out of its mouth. There isn't a catch to that.

Quote (ill) you fit the stereotype of people here perfectly I RESENT THAT!!!! but seriously though, elitism isn't necessarily bad. it is only bad when it comes to the "Holier Than Thou" attitude. when it comes to art and logic/reason, elitism is a good thing.

In other words, having a higher standard for things like art, logic (and everything that is supposed to be based on it like the law, government, religion or lack thereof, etc.), etc. is actually a good thing because we won't settle for second rate; we won't settle for people not putting their full effort into it and ridding themselves of their biases. Anyways, How do you squeeze blood from a turnip? Slit a baby's throat and bleed it into the turnip first

Van Gough is a better painter than me, Mozart is a better musician than me. Jimi Hendrix is a better guitar player than me and you can judge the quality by comparing the two.

Quote (ill) its nothing about how good you are technicaly but if they're better technically then they are better i understand if you like someone elses style more because you can relate to it more or whatever, i can understand if you like vanilla ice's "Ice Ice Baby" because you like to dance and have fun and thats fine. but i would never say Vanilla Ice was a good rapper.

people critique art all the time, eg. "The Judgement of Solomon (hanging in Louvre Museum, Paris) is another painting where Poussin found, I believe, a precise balance between color and composition. While the influence of Venice makes itself evident in the rich red, orange, and blue of the robes, it’s the rigorous geometrical organization, unusually austere when compared to the often overabundant Italians of High Renaissance and later periods, that underlies and informs this piece. Both color and composition provide layers of meaning, and combined they produce a whole that is more than the sum of its parts." just like you can critique the lyrics a rapper used in a song

^^^ exactly! Don't confuse personal preference, which is subjective, with technical skill, which is objective. That is why I freely claim that some poets are superior to others. I will always express that most of the world renowned traditional poets are lightyears ahead of the majority of slam poets (on the exception of people like Saul Williams and Patricia Smith, and even that is arguable). What I believe in is trying to bring the taste of the masses to the level of skill of the superior artists. Then they can debate who is better between, for example, Massive Attack and Boards of Canada rather than Soulja Boy and Dem Franchize Boyz. I don't want to force such entities out of the picture in an unrighteous way, but if the public pushes them away, then so be it. If they don't, then I don't care, as long as the better artists get more of a chance and get noticed more.
