Well, ironically, the reason 2Pac has gained such noteriety across the globe is because many people see themselves in 2Pac. Like I said, he is a cultural icon, so it's not that far fetched that some of his fans may feel that they know him, even if they haven't met him in the physical form. The first acknowledgement of Jesus Christ was, believe it or not, a tag. Caesar's enemies used to tag his name on walls with images depicting his death. This form of communication goes back to the dawn of civilization.

Lol who knows whether he did or not. There are shamans and monks who have mystical powers, so it's a possibility at the least.

I'm a hip hop purist. This isn't a part time thing with me.

i listen to hip hop non stop but i could give a fuck about a rappers personal life

Well, I guess I should make it a point of reference that 2Pac's life wasn't similar to the life of your average rapper. Pac was in the media on all fronts. Radio, television, movies, internet. He ruled the rap world during his reign and growing up around that atmosphere created the grounds for why I follow his life story so closely to this day. I don't look down on anyone who doesn't know the full history of 2Pac or any rapper for that matter, I just don't like people hating on those whom they know nothing about.

how bout we leave this alone now fellas

See, that was on page 2. I never wanted the debate to drag on for as long as it did. When I tried shying away from the thread, I was accused of "skirting the discussion", so at that point I had to shut it down. I had no other choice.

I haven't read any of the posts on this thread since this one because I feel the need to address this.
I have a love for Tupac Shakur. Not necassarily the person, but the music and the art.
When I look at a picture of Tupac, the first thought that comes into my head is myself. That is because he was such a big part of my life for about 2 and a half years. There was a time when I watched Tupac: Reserection at least once every two days. When I was walking to school, Tupac was there, living through an old CD I found at my friends house. When I was at home bored with nothing to do, Pac was there. When I was angry at the world for no apperent reason, Tupac was there. Etc etc.
Sure, the reasons why I admired him so much were probably dumb and without meaning, but fact is, he has had a HUGE influence on my life. I would say more so then my actual dad. He has just changed how I look at things and how I look at myself. He is the reason I even got into hiphop.
If it weren't for Pac, I wouldn't be posting this.
Tupac Shakur is.... Immortal in my world. As long as I live, I will always pay tribute to him in some way or another, whether it be spraying his name on an abonded building, or doing a 10 foot mural.

Life's a bitch and I'm just along for the ride.

all you know is what the internet tells you

There is a lot of valuable, credible information on the internet. Don't hate me because I'm good at doing research. I enjoy learning about the life of 2Pac. That's what I enjoy. I don't judge you for the things you enjoy.

Quote (Joker13)
when you actually meet him and talk to him everyday that means you know somehitng about a person

This is a silly post. I get what you're saying, but what about all the historical figures that no one in our lifetime has ever met? Can we honestly say we don't know Martin Luther King, Jr.? Can we say we don't know Abraham Lincoln, or Nikola Tesla? I feel I know a lot about people who I never met in my life. I may not know it all, but I never claimed I knew 'everything' about 2Pac in the first place.

I'm not trying to make you feel bad about having that number of posts, but what do you expect me to do when you come at me with, "I actually have a life" ... that's a round about way of showing disrespect.

I didn't come into the thread telling everyone to worship 2Pac. I came into the thread to give praise to the Vatican selecting his music. Some people were not pleased with the way I described 2Pac, so they called me out on it. I defended my stance. What is the issue?

Quote (Joker13)
whole different type of thing there are still people who knew martin luther king

OK LOL, and 2Pac was on this earth at a later time period than MLK, am I right? So there are probably many more people alive who knew Pac rather than MLK. Lol I don't understand what you were getting at with that comment.

The Jaywalking incident was probably one of the biggest known facts about 2Pac during his lifetime. I live in the Bay Area so maybe it was talked about a lot more on the West but it is no mystery that Pac got his ass beat for crossing the street. He had a string of interviews following the incident where he recounts his tale. No mystery there.

The word "your" is possessive. I think you mean "you're", which is a contraction, or combination of the words "you" and "are" ... The more you know ;)

uhh your point is what?

My point is that if I want to contribute to a thread about 2Pac, then I should be able to do so -- especially on a forum dedicated to hip hop music. The Jaywalking incident was relative to this thread because we were discussing 2Pac's criminal record. I never brought the Jaywalking thing up, I just added to it.

Ok, I was done with this thread, but I think it is necessary that I do this:

That is a fucking retarded comment that you need to be called out for, but I'm not going to be a bitch like you and put it in my sig with your name next to it.

Experts have been studying Buddhist monks for more than 20 years, trying to figure out just how in the hell they're doing what they do. By using a meditation technique called Tum-mo, these monks can lower their metabolism by 64 percent. To put it in perspective, your metabolism only drops 10 to 15 percent when you sleep. And yes, you should feel bad that there are people who make you look uptight when you're asleep.

But far more awesome than that, the monks can also increase the temperatures of their fingers and toes by 17 degrees. No one knows how.

It's believed the monks' techniques can one day be taught to astronauts to be used during space travel, since during their meditation they consume far less resources. And once the astronauts arrive on another planet, they'll likely find a group of Buddhist monks waiting, having effortlessly teleported themselves there with their minds.

damn, i want to know more about this but don't want to start rambling in an already rambled out thread. there are definitely many unexplained phenoms some humans and animals can perform that science hasn't been able prove yet or simply cannot prove.
I just want to go on record saying i co-sign Alcatraz on this one.

to keep things going on 2pac now any of you resident 2pac blowers tell me his spirituality and if it had any relation to the actions he made in life including the thug related acts.

The most he's really let us in on is that he prays to god. And talks to god. Other than that we don't really know. He seems to be leaning more towards Christian morality but that's just my guess because of the crosses and the biblical passages tattooed on him and so forth. But even NaS has that same shit and he raps about Muslim ideals in his songs sometimes. I will admit though, NaS is a lot more back and forth with the religion thing as Pac is somewhat more vague and straight forward.

I posted this earlier, you should watch it again and LISTEN to what he is saying. Dyson basically broke down a 2 hour lecture in about 30 seconds. Talks a little about god in the opening sequence.

Was about to say, he never really spoke on religion directly but he does mention God a fair bit. He wears crosses though which I don't believe Muslims do? Plus if he really was a Muslim I think he would've mentioned his faith more often and his religious ideas so I'll assume he's Christian, most definitely not a fundamentalist though.
