Project Mooncircle Finest Ego/German / Austrian / Swiss Compilation by V/A

A while has passed since our last compilation has been released but just in time for the 2011 holiday season Project: Mooncircle and Finest Ego bring you the already fifth edition of our acclaimed compilation series. Shifting focus towards central Europe, we find the three countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Sharing lots of their historical and cultural heritage, this copious collection contains work from producers of a wide range of musical manifestations – all located in the spectrum between traditional sample-based and organic sound to electronic and experimental compositions. Grown up in the nineties with the organic sounds from across the big pond and a long tradition of electronic music in the German speaking world, this compilation showcases the fusion of electronic and classical soulful organic elements in the beat scene. The sound is as diverse as the country and its people, from Spaetzle to Klopse and from HipHop to Techno, on this compilation you can find Boombap from the likes of Brenk & Suff Daddy but also electronic sounds from the likes of Robot Koch and Bit Tuner as well as atmospheric sonical waves from Glenn Astro and Anthony Drawn.
The influences vary from Jazz records, video games, Hip Hop, Drum ‘n’ Bass and Techno. But are there two different camps clashing here? Retro vs future, mountain village vs urban center, winter vs summer

The compilation includes Chief, Brenk, Dexter, Mono:Massive, Hulk Hodn, Captain Crook, Stroe, Hubert Daviz, Comfort Fit, Robot Koch, Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie, Quendolin Fender, Ju-Ar, Twit One, Suff Daddy, Figub Brazlevic, Szenario, Portformat, Flowtec, D-Fekt & Mr. Beef, Bit-Tuner, Feux, Kalifornia Kurt, B-Ju, Playpad Circus, Flex Fab, Ill-Luzion, Anthony Drawn, Hazeem, Minor Sick, XL The Red One, Glenn Astro, Frederic Robinson, and Willy Sunshine.

Caught In Traffic (New Album) by Gigio Cordova & Josef Blo

It's one of those stories that could only be told thanks to the unifying power of hip hop. With so much history, It's a little unclear as to where it all began. We could go back as far as the musical essence of the human being's soul, but we'll keep it simple.

In the year 2008, bay area emcee Gigio made his way to British Columbia, Canada, to rock out on some hip hop shit with fellow Associated Fresh head, Dren Doh. Needless to say, the impression was made. The people were rocked, The Bay was felt, and the love resonated.

Fast forward to 2011, when Gigio and AF partner in rhyme, Fluent, held a remix contest for their Grand Sunz album, "Forever Shining". BC hip hop producer, Josef Blo, entered and emerged victorious. Through mutual friends and a love for hip hop, the foundation between Gigio & Joe Blo was laid for a subsequent project.
Fresh off the release of his instrumental joint, "The Studious EP" (Dusted Wax Kingdom), Josef began sending beats to Gigio, and in turn Gigio would send the songs back to Joe, who then traveled to Toronto to complete the album. Nine songs later, they found themselves with a completed project entitled "Caught In Traffic", referring to the constant and unpredictable motion that is life. These are stories straight from its pages.

Golden age hip hop aficionados and new school fresh kids alike should be enthralled. A studious Josef Blo provides dusty samples within funky beats that breathe life, accompanied by lyrics with a fresh perspective on this fast-paced, ever-changing world from a seasoned Gigio.

From the Bay to BC to Ontario, we present you with Gigio & Josef Blo's "Caught In Traffic".
Hip Hop is real.

The White Shadow Of Norway By Luis Santana (The Hip Hop Herald)

They say every dark cloud has a silver lining. Well in this case it’s more of a White Shadow. In the wake of the Game fiasco that went down in Norway I just wrote about I was asked to now bring the real shine that is Norwegian hip-hop.

Realistically there is nothing I can possibly write about White Shadow that hasn’t been written already "He started as a club DJ in Norway in the late 70's, won two DMC Norwegian mixing champ titles in 1988, and 1989, moved to New York in the early 90's, and DJ' d all the top clubs, and venues there. He was a member of the Boogie Down Production extended family, which resulted in him doing cuts for, and co-producing Jamalski's song "Hangin' Tree" which was used as part of the soundtrack for the Arnold Schwarzenegger film "Last Action Hero." He was also the opening act for Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Gangstarr, Main Source, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, KRS-One, Funkmaster Flex, and many more at various shows in New York. Back in Norway from the mid '90s and into the 2000s Shadow continued to DJ clubs, and venues while producing, and doing cuts on records which lead to him working with Craig G, Kool G Rap, Canibus, The Roots, Army Of The Pharaohs, Supastition, Tash (Alkaholiks), Easy Mo Bee, and many more. He won a best Turntablist Award at the Norwegian Hip Hop Awards in 2004, and is the only DJ to win the award. In Norway, he is labeled as a living legend because of his involvement with Hip-hop for decades worldwide.” (http://www.hiphopug.com/the-white-shadow-of-norway.html) With that said, let me focus on his latest endeavor "Savage” which is a mixtape with beats, production, cuts, mixing and mastering all done by White Shadow himself. There are 17 tracks with an army of rappers that literally kill track after track. This is a must listen, must have mixtape. You can listen to the album here http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF3AB9480B3372C16 and cop it on iTunes by clicking on the alum cover above which I strongly suggest. Check out the track list below and I am sure you will agree with me, this is a classic. Enough said. The mans work speaks for its self.

Logic & Raze release "...untitled LIVE"

"On December 20th, Milwaukee hip-hop duo Logic & Raze were on the legendary WMSE 91.7FM program Local/Live.

Today they have released their entire live performance though an EP called "...untitled LIVE."

The live EP showcases their ability to make their songs come to life while having fun and giving the listener something actually worth listening to. I'm not saying that this is "Frampton Live" but I am saying that this EP is dope and worth your time.

Did I mention that this EP is FREE FREE FREE?!"

You can download the entire EP from their website - http://logicandraze.com/p/untitled-live-ep.html

Delusionists - Underachiever (Lost Letter 4)

"The 4th in the Lost Letters series came about after the track we were planning to release got "lost" again (it wasn't hitting the spot so we ditched it). This left us without a new joint to release and a gaping hole in our plan to drop these forgotten gems in quick succession. It was all looking bleak until one cold night in November 2011, when Ben got home around midnight, knocked out this beat on the MPC and proceeded to write Underachiever in the same sitting. Better late than never."
