I should rob a pet store, let the dogs wild I should close all the schools just to make the kids smile -Slug Quote (eboyd) There are two different categories of both atheism and theism: agnostic and gnostic. An agnostic atheist claims no knowledge but feels that the evidence strongly supports their disbelief in God. The great majority of atheists are agnostic. I haven't actually met a gnostic atheist. Gnostic atheism would be a claim to know for a fact that no God exists. The great majority of theists are gnostic as well. However, the truth is that, as Bertrand Russell pointed out, the burden of proof lies in the court of the person making the claim using his teapot analogy. Those claiming that a God exists need to provide extensive, unabated evidence for this and until it is provided, the logical conclusion is agnostic atheism. For this reason, your statement that we don't know what happens when we leave this earth in physical form is true and is something most atheists would agree upon. This is a solid post but this is the real reason I try to stay away from titles altogether. To me, even to say you are atheist or agnostic or a gnostic atheist is placing yourself in a box, which is more or less a subscribed theory at the core. In turn, to me at least, that represents a religion (in essence, not by standard definition). It seems that the new thing to do when someone says they don't subscribe to a religion is to ask, "Well, are you atheist or agnostic?" That is just another way of grouping you with other people. I realize there must be terms to acknowledge who believes what but I choose to say I am simply human. Because the moment I say I am this or I am that, an immediate caste is placed over my head, and I don't like that. I agree with your post, though.

I thought like that for a while as well, but then I realized words in general are simply titles, symbols, labels. The term "agnostic atheist" is simply another title, just like "table" is simply a title for "that thing with four legs and a flat top that you put stuff on" which, additionally, is a title of it's own. Every single word is a symbol that represents something. Putting an -ism on something simply makes it so that rather than having to spend 3 hours trying to describe what you believe, you can use one short phrase and people will know right away what you believe without you having to explain. The title "agnostic atheist" may seem one which places me in a box, but all it does is describe the fact that I do not believe that a God exists, yet I do not claim to know this for certain. Everything else is up to me. I also consider myself a rationalist and I actually prefer this title as I feel the concept of God is the only reason "atheism" even exists and without God, the word atheism would be meaningless. So, in essence, labels, while they seem to put people in boxes, only help make conversation easier, especially considering that really, if we look at it honestly, all words are labels. "...riverrun past the Wakening we ReJoyce/ Thankful everyday for our God given voice/ Realizing our plans as they come to actuality/ Finding the essence of life is found in it's banality/ Gradually coming to surface and seeing our motives/ Finding it's not as cut-and-dry as the scriptures told us/ Beholders of our fate, free to superimpose/ Ideas of reality 'cause what you think you know/ It's all been negated a thousand times before/ Never judge until you know what lies behind those doors/ So what is God? Everything? A being in the abyss?/ A spirit in the clouds? Does he really exist?/ [...] Hook (x2): "I'm on the moon looking at the world as it turns/ Creating verse that makes the modern colloquy burn/ Reinventing ideas of what you thought was ideal/ Understanding the cycle of life when it's revealed" [...] The cycle of life continues winding around this/ Familiar path, we find ourselves down this[...] (After the last line mentioned it loops back to the beginning of the track to create a cycle, much like in the book "Finnegan's Wake" by James Joyce which was alluded to in the first few lines numerous times through pun and by also using the same first word from that book) -Agent X (aka me ) If you want to check the track go here: http://www.myspace.com/realhiphopforeveragentx The track name is "Cycle of Life". Quote (ALCATRAZ) But he wasn't my father, and he didn't die for me. you say this like youre the bearer of the truth or something? where would He get the healing powers from then?

its all good. responded to your thread. A few more lyrics that always have me stumped: "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth" - Killah Priest; might actually try to get a tattoo in reference to this, shit has me thinking about this quote all the time "It was a regular day in Southside Sprink-aklers kids running all of a sudden Heads turnin somebody did somethin' This ni99a name I forgot F**k it he lived around the block Regular getting money ni99a But love to clown a lot Walked across the park stuntin' frontin' Diamond in his hear diamond watch on Eatin' a bag of popcorn Walked up behind this shorty grabbin' her waist She pushed him away so he threw the bag in her face She felt disrespected shorty couldn't except it Called him a p**sy told him she be back in a second He didn't pay her no mind called her b**ch bout 4 times Stayed in the park wit a ni99a wit a mano nine Then in no time older ni99a From behind swung a baseball bat Left his face all cracked told him take all that Hit him again popped his chain wit a frown Love to clown wit his stain on the ground"- Lloyd Banks; I know some might hate but when this verse ends shit has me stuck, dude painted a very vivid and detailed picture and I see everything that hes saying. you know shit was crisp if your thinking about what the music video would be like "Caveman kidnapped the stars and try to move us back to Mars" Ju Allah; no clue why just always has me thinking when listening to this
