As of yesterday, J. Cole's debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story has leaked the web.
Get out there and give it a listen and post your thoughts on his debut.

I DL'ed it yesterday and if ur a fan of his mixtapes, this is definately for you. Although he does have tracks aimed for mainstream appeal, they're still rugged enough to get a few spins from underground purists, IMO at least lol

Best Tracks: Lost Ones, Dolla and a Dream III, God's Gift
Lyrics: 9/10
Production: 6.5/10
Cohesiveness: 8.5/10
Song-Writing/Idea Execution: 8.5/10

Overall: 8/10

what does the opinion of a bunch of hip hop purists have to do with whether or not his album will sell? none of us could give two shits about Blueprint 3 when it dropped but that didn't change the fact that piece of shit album went to the top of the Billboard charts lol.

since when are J.Cole's fans hip hop purists?? most hip hop purists think he's wack. there are a few that like him (more than Drake and Wayne but still not many) but most of his fans are teenage girls and boys who wouldn't know hip hop from techno.

his fans are teenagers who don't know hip hop from techno only because he actually gets mainstream exposure, is there something wrong with that? I'm sure there are a lot of purists who like him too but their voices aren't as heard, but thats not J. Cole's fault

with that said i still gotta check out the album, it might end up being wack lol, i just hope he hasn't sold out too much

i am not saying anything to the contrary. i'm just saying that the majority of his appeal is mainstream, not among hip hop purists, even though he's one of those "on the fence" guys that has some appeal with mainstream and purists alike. Meth was claiming his appeal was with purists and it's not. he's more of a mainstream emcee than a hardcore hip hop head type. doesn't mean i don't personally think he's pretty dope either. i actually like some of his music. i haven't heard enough to say whether or not i like most of it though.

I didnt say his whole fanbase was purists. I said a fraction.

But hell I cant pretend that Im not a fan. I loved all of his mixtapes and Im even enjoying the leak. Is it a classic? Hell no. I liked Thank Me Later over Cole World: The Sideline Story TBH.

Yeah but you always seem to ignore that whenever you want me to listen to one of your shitty beats.
