Quote (I_Guy) Ever since the genetic modification of the soy bean, more and more farmers have converted to the "improved" soy plant. But some farmers haven't. Through natural events, the genetically modified soy plants pollinate the unmodified plants owned by the farmers who haven't converted over. BUT GUESS WHAT? Beings the corporation discovered the gene that modifies the plant they get to patent their discovery. AND GUESS WHAT. They have made it illegal to posses their "property" without purchase. So when these farmers end up with cross pollinated crops, GUESS WHO THE FUCK GETS SUED AND PUT OUT OF BUSINESS??? Yeah, I have stated before that I'm against patents...

Quote (I_Guy) If knowledge could be harvested and transferred through machines into human brains, what do you think would happen to this technology in a capitalistic society? A. It would be offered by the government for free to everyone B. It would be offered by the government for a fee to everyone C. Everyone will be allowed to purchase a knowledge machine and have it in their home D. Corporations would turn it into a fucking expensive ass commodity (like gasoline) Well the reason why gasoline is expensive is because of strict regulations enforced by the US government. But if the government doesn't intervene then businesses would compete and everyone would be allowed to purchase it at the lowest price possible.

Quote (J-Breakz) Well the reason why gasoline is expensive is because of strict regulations enforced by the US government. You interestingly like to avoid.

Quote (I_Guy) And capitalism loves them soooo... Not really, there are actually many libertarians and other capitalists who are against patents like me. Quote (I_Guy) But what's your answer to both questions. You interestingly like to avoid. I'm sorry, it's just you keep on adding on to your post after I have already responded to it. But my second answer would be the same as the first.

1. C 2. It depends how companies would wish to distribute it. But if the government doesn't intervene then businesses would compete and everyone would be allowed to purchase it at the lowest price possible.

You don't seem to see the problem. Why the fuck would anyone charge for life??? How fucked up is that? That's the point of the question.

Quote (J-Breakz) Yeah, I got the point of it, don't worry. Yet you begin talking about corporations as if it's okay for them to charge for it?

Quote (I_Guy) Yet you begin talking about corporations as if it's okay for them to charge for it? I think it's okay. I know that with competition the price would drop to the lowest it possibly can so that people can buy it. And I also know that there will be organizations who try to help the needy that will try to purchase the fountain of youth drink thru donations and provide it for the needy that are unable to afford it.

Quote (J-Breakz) No it wouldn't. You underestimate the human capacity for corruption. Quote (J-Breakz) I think it's okay. And I also know that there will be organizations who try to help the needy that will try to purchase the fountain of youth drink thru donations and provide it for the needy that are unable to afford it. But why would the corporations have more right to own the resource moreso than everyone else? The fountain of youth would be a product of the earth, a discovery. Who the hell has the right to claim it and sell it? What would give them the right?

Quote (I_Guy) You underestimate the human capacity for corruption. You can't have a monopoly on a product when there's competition on the market. Quote (I_Guy) But why would the corporations have more right to own the resource moreso than everyone else? The fountain of youth would be a product of the earth, a discovery. Who the hell has the right to claim it and sell it? What would give them the right? Who says a corporation would have rights to it? The owner of the fountain of youth might want to keep his business small, there are many businesses out there like that. But that's besides the point. If it's on someone's property then it's theirs they rightfully own the fountain of youth. If they choose to waste the resource by charging really high for a cup then that's their choice but it's their loss as well.

No one really has the right to own anything (except their body). Quote (J-Breakz) they rightfully own the fountain of youth. And exactly what gives them the right?

Quote (I_Guy) And exactly what gives them the right? Capitalism. If he can't own the fountain of youth even if it's on his property than there is truly no freedom.

Quote (J-Breakz) If he can't own the fountain of youth even if it's on his property than there is truly no freedom. So if aliens came and took our planet because it was in what they think is in their part of the universe, they would have the right?
