Quote (Lord_Meth) ^^^^ Well is it? Why does it seem like there's no hope for a revival? Its like the underground is trying so hard to bring back that hardcore lyrical sound, but still nothing has changed....I read a article that said Auto-Tune sales have INCREASED since the release of Jay'z D.O.A. song.....(so much for shaking things up) I understand that Hip Hop cant come back over night, but is there a glimpse of hope in the future? I want my radio back people have been saying it died since the 80's when breakdancing dropped in popularity and the government broke down more on graffiti, its gone through deaths, evolutions etc. it also had revivals when it was dying, in the late 80's it was becoming too poppy with people like LL Cool J making nothing but love songs etc, but then N.W.A etc came through and changed everything and revived the spirit again, but then that's when labels started realizing the money it could make them and cashed in on gangsta rap, it was becoming cheesy and fake then hardcore hip hop, wu-tang clan etc started coming up, KRS-One was even addressing the issue of hip hop dying in 1993 on his album Return of the Boom Bap complaining about the commercial rappers back then. Right now the things stopping underground emcee's breaking through are: 1. a lot of them rap about the same things - how many skills they have - how the radio sucks - how hardcore they are not all of them are like this though but a lot are 2. I've realized you have to reach the young fans, when i was playing some hip hop my 8 year old brother was liking it, but if you played it to a 15 year old odds are they're not going to like it because they're not used to it and they can't be bothered getting used to it, they are so used to hearing the same shit on the radio anything else just sounds weird to them, so emcees have to reach the young people like little kids like Wu-Tang and most of the dope people in the 90's did to us, i remember when i was in elementary school everyone was drawing Wu-Tang signs everywhere, on the chalk board and everything lol but today it seems like real hip hop emcee's aren't making their music accessible to the young kids anymore that's the main problem.

Everyone keeps saying this kinda shit here, so we might as well just shut down the site right?!?!?........... It's only dead (to you) if you say it is.... shit is alive and well in me. I don't blame you tho', there's times I've felt the same but I think about this shit everyday and decided it'll stay alive, even if I have to search real hard for the music, I will...that kinda keeps it fun. I remember being a kid and always comparing tapes with my friends that we'd record off late nite hiphop stations and we'd be like "Yo, you got thiiis track Bitch? I DO!!) LOL - HIPHOP is wonderful and is here to stay... there'll always be bullshit on the radio and T.V. but a real hiphop head knows how to separate and ignore the weak shit! Who the hell is saying this? Reveal yourself!!! If i say hip hop is dead thats my own damn opinion, but my opinion is shared by many, it is not a secret to this. I don't think about hip hop everyday nor do i listen to hip hop everyday, but when i do, i share what i listen to with others that don't know about it. Fuck the stations and MTV, i lost respect when balance was terminated, So when i say Hip Hop is dead I'm stating the fact that Balance has shifted to one side only. I can't be forced into submission to that shit on the radio, cause I'm old school everybody here knows this, my generation was the generation that bought albums (Tapes), there wasn't no advanced technology to download, so when i say hip hop is dead i am speaking from a area that i have witness begin to take over and happen from the start, But what i am good at is pin pointing a real hip hop head from a fake one, Cause if you was Real you can decipher what my comment meant, "Balance" I repeat "Balance"....So if you question my hip hop knowledge or feel i am not educated enough up to your standards, you can call me and i will help you to understand my thought process. It is fairly unique, many will agree, especially the ones who have talked to me directly on the phone from the group. I might be taking your comment personal and wrong, but at this point it is what it is........

Somebody call the Whaaambulance for this boy!!! You need to relax bro'... I never said ur not entitled to ur opinion... just tried to change it a little to keep hiphop "alive" for you... if the shit really runs thru' you then you got nuthin' to worry 'bout fam... I'm from the same fuckin' era so don't come at me with that shit... there's plenty of hiphop music out there today that is still just as good and some better too... We got no choice but to be old skool bro', that's life and what we were passionate about then. Just go back and read my comment..... I said i feel what ur sayin' cuz i've been there, but changed my opinion and made up my mind...I'm just sayin' it sux you feel that way, No more hiphop for you i guess?!?! ..... I'ma stay reppin' tho' and hunting for the realness if it kills me.... Lighten Up!!! UNBELIEVABLE!

Feelings mutual - there's never been a perfect balance... when i was coming up, the older cats knocked all the new shit i was bumpin' and said it's not the same and hiphop sux now(this is 93' - '95 im speaking on...i was 13 - 15)...then they finally started respecting it.... why do you care if the shit you like is on the radio or t.v???? as long as you can get ur hands on it then i don't see a problem..... and ALL the other elements are still going pretty strong too... i know lots of youngsters out there breaking and writing(graf) and shit....... hiphop is not in the state i'd like to see it either but you take the good with the bad like in any life situation.

Not sure what area you live in, but how i remember, everything got radio play wack shit and the good shit, 80's threw the 90's. There wasn't a barrier or limits on what was played, or who was rapping, i recorded Blow job Betty (Too Short) right off the damn radio, and it was not played on a midnight show, try the mornings, uncut. So if older cats told you that shit was dead in 93, they might of been misinformed, cause that was unheard of at any place where i was in, and in 92 i graduated from high school, not sure what your age is. But that hip hop is dead statement was not even made at least not in my presence. Why i am worried about the radio? Because I want others, to hear others thats why! I know whats up and where to find my personal type of sound. But cats are complaining that the radio and the TV is not giving exposure to certain artist where in the 80's and 90's they did. I am constantly referring people to music cause of this shit, maybe i can use a little bit of help from these other advanced sources, that is my beef....

There's plenty of music genres that have stayed alive in the underground. I dunno what u mean...? Freestyle, techno, house, chill out music, and other electronic genres... I think ppl are makin a bigger deal outta this than what it really is, the whole hip hop is dead thing has always seemed ridiculous to me

Quote (Lord_Meth) word but before we can balance the airwaves shouldnt we balance ourselves first? If you dont already like mainstream music its gonna be hard to tolerate it if the industry WAS balanced, right? Wrong..With everything mixed together, everybody is satisfied, It's like going to a party where they spin lil wayne 10 times a night, in between that 10 times they can spin 10 other artist to avoid playing the same one. If everybody is getting there fair share of spins would this conversation exist? No. They can play there soulja boy, but follow up with that Immortal technique or something, for example. The industry does not want underground exposed to the public, cause than it will switch sides, and those artist making millions off of there lack of talent, will be forced to go get some... Soulja Boy is still alive cause the doors are still open for him to make wack shit, you push underground shit in his doorway he wont eat as much ( Make As Much), cause people will open there ears to REAL talent.... I break it down even further now i am drinking this beer. Its discrimination. Its almost like saying i got a restaurant for whites only, if you are colored you can't eat here. Check it, I own this industry and the only ones that can eat are certain types of peoples. If you have a voice we don't want your service, but if you are quiet and do what i say than you will eat.......
