The fugees, especially their album 'The Score'. They had some mainstream success, but I think they are criminally underrated by Hip Hop purists...
Justice System, one of the best Hip Hop bands of the 90s...and no one's heard of em =/

flobots. they had that one "handlebars" hit but other than that they were pretty much ignored. their actual album was fucking great. they're most recent efforts have sucked but still.
