We're putting together a list of top 5 hip hop albums from every year from 1984 all the way up until 2010. we're already doing it in the youtube group but we should use the other networks to contribute to the list too.
the way it will add up is the albums get 5 points if it gets named number 1, 4 points for being named 2, 3 points for number 3, 2 points for number 4 and 1 point for being named number 5 on peoples top 5 lists.
after the lists are drawn the top 2 albums from each year will be put against other albums in a tournament style brackets, we will have votes to see which album will come out as the greatest

Quote (EmSeeD) i haven't heard that album yet, but its another album that was bootlegged then officially released years later lol i can't believe i didn't realize that and it is one of my favorite albums haha! yeah, i just checked that fact and you're right, the project was ready to be put out there in 96 but was released in 2003. doesn't that still count though? i mean the intended release date was 96 but the label shelved it. it is seriously one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time, so i think it counts for 96. then again it has a chance to actually win first place for 2003. what do you guys think? we need to debate this a bit more because this is important.

i think we should count it for 96. the same thing happened to Large Professor's The LP album which also came out in 96.

Hardly any great song beside Fakin Jax. Overall good, but I don't think it's top 5 material.

It should be according to release date, not by bootleg date. The album could be recorded in X date but if it wasn't released on that X date but on a Y date, it should be considered the Y date, not the X date

If Paid in Full was released in '09 it would have sucked ass, for an example.

INI's album is as good as P Rock's work with CL Smooth, his beats are just more crusty. Rob-O's solo album "Rhyme Pro" is like a Center Of Attention 2, if you loved CoA, you will love "Rhyme Pro" to death.

i agree with TheWatcher, its too unfair to compare albums from different era's. they should be compared with albums from the era they were made in. eg. Run-DMC's debut and LL Cool J's Radio are both classics, but if they came out during the 90's for the 00's they would have been garbage, but they're classics in the era they were made from

if anything it would be unfair only because "Center of Attention" would dominate 2003, but because not that many people know about it and because there's more competition, it probably won't make the top 5 for 96. that's why i'm so torn. now that i think about it, can we just go with its actual release date? it may actually have a fighting chance that way

maybe we can count it for both, label it as a bootleg in 96 and then label it as official release in 03, i don't mind counting it for both, they're slightly different anyway, the 2003 version was part of a compilation or some shit like that so i think we can count them as slightly different
