We're putting together a list of top 5 hip hop albums from every year from 1984 all the way up until 2010. we're already doing it in the youtube group but we should use the other networks to contribute to the list too.
the way it will add up is the albums get 5 points if it gets named number 1, 4 points for being named 2, 3 points for number 3, 2 points for number 4 and 1 point for being named number 5 on peoples top 5 lists.
after the lists are drawn the top 2 albums from each year will be put against other albums in a tournament style brackets, we will have votes to see which album will come out as the greatest

Looking at the list so far, I can't believe how much De La Soul is being ignored. DOC number one in 89? Matter of taste, but bloody hell. Road to the Riches is a worthier opponent. Buhloone Mindstate is placed about right, but Stakes Is High didn't even make the top 5, can't get over that. It's their best as well as most underrated album, overseen back then because it wasn't produced by Prince Paul, and it didn't follow the gangsta trend, and overseen now because it didn't sell well? I'm surly offended. Was hoping either Stakes Is High or 3 Feet High and Rising would make number 1. Now their run is over probably.

Quote (Greeny) DOC number one in 89? Matter of taste, but bloody hell. Road to the Riches is a worthier opponen lol i agree bro, i think i might have voted G Raps Road To Riches higher too, Quote (Greeny) Was hoping either Stakes Is High or 3 Feet High and Rising would make number 1. i agree again i think i actually voted that as my number one album for that year, but i don't mind because it still made number 2 and is still in the running for the elimination rounds against Eric B & Rakims - Follow The Leader, i was also disappointed when Straight Outta Compton didn't even make number 2, but to be fair those were very competitive years. maybe one day we can do this again lol

No, I say that you should look further into this. You oversaw it because it wasn't hyped up because it didn't sell good is what I'm furiously accusing you all for.

i don't think it was sales, but rather the albums that were more well known, the more well known albums may just happen to be ones that sold more but i can't blame them, i mean i've never even heard of this stakes is high album so i couldn't vote for it. at least they're still good lists and still dope albums so either way i believe in the end we will have the very best hip hop albums in the list even if some did unfortunately get cut out

That's what I said, it wasn't produced by Prince Paul and didn't get that much recognition, and since it didn't get recognition, it didn't sell, and since it didn't sell, it didn't get recognition. Gotta get into the circle.

You're right, but this is: And furthermore, Wu-Tang Forever > Illmatic. I may be exaggerating a bit, but Wu-Tang Forever is pretty dope though, best / second best group effort of theirs, only really liked that one and their first one though (not counting the solo projects).
