Quote (J-Breakz) Microsoft has proprietary API's. Ahh, well I'm pretty sure Apple does as well. If they have a problem with that they should go program something for Linux, they wouldn't make a lot of money but they wouldn't have to spend any on lawyers either.

I'm confused though, what was their problem with that? They can make their software compatible with Microsoft if they want as far as I know, it shouldn't be Microsoft's job to adapt to their needs.

Quote (J-Breakz) Workers are forced to educate themselves to get better jobs. Everybody is responsible for their own success and happiness in capitalism. That's what's so beautiful about it. Are you kidding me? Majority of people can't afford it now. What makes you think they will be able to afford it when easy jobs disappear?

Getting rid of government regulation and involvement would eliminate nearly all taxes except for land taxes. this would put more money in the pockets of the people.

Ha ha, not nearly enough. Quote (J-Breakz) Workers are forced to educate themselves to get better jobs. Everybody is responsible for their own success and happiness in capitalism. That's what's so beautiful about it. But here you go again, saying what people should or could do, and meanwhile you completely overlook the philosophical reasoning, anthropological acculturation, historical effects, intellectual fallout, pathological memes, psychological traumas, and sociological complexities of society. You go and say, "well they are forced to get better jobs." People in society are not legos that simply neatly stack and interact in simple configurations.

Quote (I_Guy) Ha ha, not nearly enough. You should read up more on the amount of money the govn't get's from taxes. They usually get like 2 trillion dollars each year, imagine if that wasn't used to fund useless govn't programs. Quote (I_Guy) But here you go again, saying what people should or could do, and meanwhile you completely overlook the philosophical reasoning, anthropological acculturation, historically consequential penalties, intellectual fallout, pathological memes, psychological traumas, and sociological complexities of society. http://www.livestrong.com/article....ibility I cannot be held responsible for anyone else's happiness nor can any1 be held responsible for my happiness. By considering how you speak about people, I notice that you have an understanding of people built on modern myths about human behavior, human interaction, human capacity, social organization. It is your failure to realize modern insight that has accumulated over the past century, finally coming to light by modern social scientists who approach the world with a holistic point of view. You have a very one dimensional view of human existence. It is a product of historical misconceptions about life (influenced by religion, and our irrational past). These misconceptions have now manifested in idiot America as society grows more and more complex and the answers grow more obscure in the blizzards of complexities. It doesn't help your understanding when you understand society through economic reductionism. You have to consider all aspects of society to find solutions. Holism, look into it.

Quote (I_Guy) Holism, look into it. You should read more about personal responsibility. Holism is a concept of thinking. You have to decide about whether or not holism is an acceptable way of looking at a certain system like economics. Though I don't understand how Holism can change my way of thinking even if this was the case. Personal responsibility seem to be quite neglected by leftists, anyway.

Though I don't understand how Holism can change my way of thinking even if this was the case. Holism is an approach of explanation. You are trying to explain how the quality of society can be bettered if only we followed the ideas of capitalism. But bettering the quality of our society requires more than a reduction to economic principles. You can't reduce the solutions to economic principles. That's why thinking holistically is important and relevant. It requires the inclusion of all parts to understand and explain the whole. No single part can explain the whole, and no one will understand the whole without considering all component parts (especially when there are emergent parts). Quote (J-Breakz) Personal responsibility seem to be quite neglected by leftists, anyway. Personal responsibility is a modern myth. It is created by the illusions of free will and personal identity.

Wait is this going to turn into a debate of whether or not free will exists?

Quote (J-Breakz) Wait is this going to turn into a debate of whether or not free will exists? It doesn't have to but it is essential to you understanding the complexity of human behavior.

Quote (J-Breakz) But you can't disprove free will anymore than I can disprove determinism There is more evidence against free will. It doesn't matter if determinism, indeterminism, or stochasm can be proven or disproven. If any of them are true, then free will is impossible. One of them has to be true. Free will is a myth, created by mankind's assumption that people are intrinsically salient beings, influenced by our conception of ourselves being separate from everything else, by religious factors, and by our complete inability to understand the complexity of our existence. Free will, along with free choice, freethought, personal identity, personal responsibility, an afterlife, karma, past-lives, soul-mates, the inner-self, gender roles of manliness and womanliness, souls, talent, the mind, fate, destiny, luck, human nature, and many other things, by their traditional definitions, are all modern myths. They are grotesque simplifications of the extremely complex.
