They weren't unbarable. They were just a bit boring. "My Favorite Ladies" was pretty cool though and a few other tracks too. Sure, no standouts like QGTM, but no god awful tracks like Make The World Go Round and Hero (that beat was fucking attrocious. Everything from the overbearing horns ruining Nas' verses because of how much of a rookie producer Polow Da Don is to the hook were gag-worthy) and it was also recorded in poor quality, so what do you expect? "Untitled" has no excuse. It was recorded in the best studio possible and Nas had the option of picking the best producers he could find but he said "fuck that. I want commercial attention because I want a broader range of people to listen to my message." I understand the goal, but "Untitled" was Nas' furthest plunge into commercial rap yet, even more than Nastradamus. It had a purpose behind putting it out like that, but that doesn't make it good. "Hero" was made for commercial appeal, end of story.

Quote (Lord_Meth) sure the production was better but as for lyrics........not a chance in hell man i dont think you can call it either way cos like erik always says jay elec killed the production for queens get the money but jay z does go hard on some of the songs on the black album like 'threat' and 'encore', they both pack a punch but for me anyway black album come out tops when i listen to untitled just picture it as an album full of singles

"Hero" was made for commercial appeal, end of story. If u really knew Nas's work, he was never a production over lyrics type of guy, he always put the rhymes first (except for when he sold out) If Nas wanted COMMERCIAL APPEAL he wouldve gotten the BEST PRODUCERS but he went with unknowns. So Ur first fact is busted How can Untitled be Nas's furthest plunge into commercial rap? He wouldnt be rapping about black people, freedom, our ancestry if that was true. He wouldve been rapping bout money, cars, clothes, bitches, and hoes. So ur whole rebuttal is false Untitled was Nas's most conscious release after Hip Hop Is Dead and God's Son, so wat its not his best its still a good album, people just overhyped it and thats why it gets dissed constantly

Am I being that obvious? Anyways, dude, what if Nas was spitting the most prophetic shit ever over a 4 minute beat of someone rhythmically farting? Would it still be good because they are the "sickest lyrics ever"?

Dude, WHAT?!?! The only unknown was Jay Elect!!!! Cool & Dre produced a track and they are all over Carter 3, Polow Da Don, the guy who produced "Throw Some D's," produced "Hero," Mark Ronson is like a major label choice producer, The Game, etc. Stic Man is the only other producer that isn't a successful major label artist that produced on it.

Im just going off wat u said, u said if he wanted to go commcial he wouldve gotten the best producers If that was the case I wouldnt get no fucking Game to produce a track, or some dick head who made a beat for fucking Richboy..... I wouldve went with a more commcial sound with Neptunes, Timbaland, David Banner, etc. those type of cats, thats why I used the term unknown to refer to Game and them and if u thought Untitled was wack, u sure did take time to notice who made the beats
