You need to try to learn something instead of presuming you know everything

If anything, that's been you for the length of the thread. All I've been doing (and my posts reflect this) is defending rappers who don't have a voice on this forum. You and eboyd threw every shot you could, and I dodged every bullet with knowledge and true understanding of the genre.

You can continue judging every rapper as if your name was Joe Brown, and I'll keep enjoying my Project Pat raps. Agree to disagree.

Yeah man, not really. Whatever Rakim and Dre recorded together may have been different for the R but I assure you the subject matter wasnt "b*tches, 40s, weed, thug life, and slangin'."

You can check out some of his Dr. Dre tracks, Dre got him to switch up his style.

Here's one that wasn't even from Dre's album though:

"How about some hardcore, yeah we like it raw for sure
Broads on the floor, wall to wall
There's more at the door, players ball to score" - Rakim (Talking about bitches)

"Rakim and Primo, yo I got what you need bro
You go see a show, smoke an L, mean yo" - Rakim (Talking about weed)

"To my elite peeps with the murderous mystiques
I hit the streets with beats and they critique for weeks
They be like "How that kid Ra reach the peak?"
Pull out the heat and use my technique to speak" - Rakim (Rakim glorifying murders and talking about heat)

"When it's ugly, then the club is lovely
Thugs be sipping Henessey and bubbly" - Rakim (Talking about thugs and alcohol).

Keep throwing that wall up.

Throwing what wall up, Pensmoke? How do you think this thread got to 9 pages? It sure as hell wasn't about your video. The thread got poppin once I came in. I answered every question posed to me. I debated any poster who tried to discredit my principles. And now I'm throwing a wall up. On page number 9. OK Pensmoke, whatever you say.

I gotta set this forum straight, man. I came here expecting elevated debate. What I got was a bunch of pretentious herbs who judge everything as if they created the genre themselves. If people want this forum to thrive, we need to build a foundation of true knowledge and understanding when discussing hip hop. We ain't there yet, but I believe once everyone gets on the same page, the forum will flourish. People are already starting to take notice to this board, let's not scare them away with preconceived notions of what real hip hop is and is not.

Whoa lol dnt get me wrong u had some good points and all but ur arguement didnt really stick well...u had some good points but lol u really dont kno wat ur talking about

If that's how you feel than that's how you feel. But don't come in the thread and judge my posts without expressing your own sentiments on the matter. Stand up and voice your opinion, or sit down and be quiet.

dude rakim is a man, he likes women, and you know very well why Rakim left Aftermath, because he WASN'T a sellout and wasn't going to make commercial bullcrap for Dr. Dre unlike 2pac.

this debate went from being about one thing to being a thread arguing about 2pac, about shit that had nothing to do with why this thread was even made, just like every other debate you've ever had on this site. i wouldn't be surprised if the vegetarian thread starts turning into a thread about 2pac soon

Again, as before, he is describing the scene in the club where he is probably doing a show at.

If that had been a Project Pat line, I guarantee you Pensmoke's response would've been totally different. LOL.

Laugh all you want, you still haven't expressed your thoughts on the topic at hand. Until then, you will just be another side-busting poster with no solid foundation to stand on.

dude Rakim is a man, he likes sex, and you know very well why Rakim left Aftermath, because he WASN'T a sellout and wasn't going to make commercial bullcrap for Dr. Dre unlike 2pac.

He recorded the song though, didn't he? Also; way to ignore my point and reply with something irrelevant.

Quote (Pensmoke)
OL Where did he say "b*tches"? He's describing the scenery of where he is at, a club apparently.

The word "bitch" is a derogative term about a woman, "broad" is flattering? He's talking about women in a demeaning way if you really want to go there, I'm not feminist but you asked about a song talking about bitches. Jeru the Damaja also has some, does that make him a gangsta rapper? Matter of fact, his first track about bitches was called "Da Bichez" and the second one "Me or the Papes".

Quote (Pensmoke)
I never said the man NEVER mentioned weed at any time. He probably smokes most people nowdays do but thats not the point. Does he go on and on about it? Or make a whole song about it having it as a main staple of his subject matter? Nah.

You never specified that he had to make a whole song dedicated to weed, I hope you're not setting a double standard for your own favorites.

Quote (Pensmoke)
LOL!!!!!! You get that out of that verse? Murderous mystiques. He's talking about grimy cats that are not to be played with who feel his music and critique it.
The "heat" is the microphone. How is he gonna use a gun to speak his technique through? Is he gonna rhyme into the gun? lol

It depends on how you perceive it and you seem to perceive any little thing about that subject to be glorifying it. If an emcee talks about it / acknowledges it does that make him a gangsta rapper? He didn't clarify what the "heat" was. And some people "speak with their hands in dangerous ways" - Royce. Don't be a sheep, you know as well as I do that he could have been talking about speaking with his 'heat'. As in, without words, communication doesn't have to involve these.

It looks like this is over with (for now) but to repeat what I said for the third time, I do not actually have a problem with any of the artists I mentioned but the reason for why I did it is because I felt those who decided to label Tupac as a 'Gangsta rapper' were way wrong. You cannot just throw him in the corner and give him the 'Gangsta rap' stamp. We're talking about a man who has rapped about more subjects than most and someone who has made some of the greatest, most heartfelt Hip Hop tracks of all time. You cannot take a track out of his discography and say that "this is what Tupac is about" period, you know better.

I hadn't read your post prior to me posting this Pen but this would be my reply to it, I'm not here to argue that Jeru or Rakim is a gangsta rapper, I was merely making a point.

Horrorcore is a subgenre of Hip Hop
I say the only thing about Alcatraz's argument I didnt agree with was there is no different categories in Hip Hop....Whil I did agree rapping was the spoken form of Hip Hop I didnt agree that Hip Hop was the ONLY genre of Hip Hop
Oh and that Project Pat thing...He has a good message no doubt but that dude is trash in my MP3 lol jk jk
