Quote no, he put it on his album to help boost KP's career. the little name that KP has was sparked because of that song. disgusting. it was sparked because of that song whcih was the first single off of his album. granted more people heard it on liquid swords but if you're implying that he'd be even less without gza you are not as straight edge as you claim, id be willing to wager you've been hitting the pipe quite regularly in fact. Quote i haven't heard Heavy Mental yet, but this notion sounds laughable to me more evidence of your non straight edge ways. yes im insinuating that you smoke crack because of the comments you're making. listen to Heavy mental before you pass judgment

Quote (eboyd) Jeru The Damaja Beat me to it :P. The Sun Rises in the East is superfucking awesome. Jerus verse in this shits on anything in Illmatic with its relevance and knowledge. Quote (eboyd) fuck Nas. idk man. i don't get all the hype. dude is overrated as fuck imo. "Illmatic" is dope, but seriously, Nas isn't even top ten imo. I agree, "illmatic" is dope, but its nothing special, and he doesnt really delve into his knowledge, just talks the street talk well. Not only that but imo leeches off the illmatics greatness and this superhype that surrounds it. Guru is far more relevant with his knowledge than nas is. I personally think the Sun Rises in The East is a far better album.

This guy is insane... Quote I agree, "illmatic" is dope, but its nothing special Illmatic is one of the most influential albums ever. Sun east crap sucked. I see why you think its good, but all these guys and albums your mentioning (liquid swords sun east) had no lasting personal impact on me. I didn't get no enjoyment out of it, unless I went line and line looking for amazing shit in liquid swords or sun east. Which I shouldn't have to do. Illmatic talked to me far more and it really got to me. But w/e I feel sorry for you illmatic haters cuz you don't understand the magic. Also Illmatic was nas's debut album, and he did it without any well known mc's. Illmatic's timing when dropped was really amazing as well.

Quote (eboyd) "Life's a Bitch" = sub par track :D Quote (DEFINITION) sub·par adj. 1. Not measuring up to traditional standards of performance, value, or production. Quote (eboyd) i haven't heard Heavy Mental yet, but this notion sounds laughable to me :D You shouldn't sleep on that album. It's a classic.

I'm not sleeping. I dl'ed the link abanks posted on the RHHF blogspot. I've been listening to it pretty much non stop for the past day and, while it's definitely a classic, I still don't think it's anywhere near as good as "Liquid Swords". LS is my favorite hip hop album of all time though As for "Life's a Bitch", yes, I meant that definition of subpar And Adam, lol at your completely selfish reasoning for no album being better than or equal to "Illmatic" that album is completely irrelevant to me, I'm sorry.

Quote (eboyd) LS is my favorite hip hop album of all time though :) I can live with that. As long as you aren't saying something like Atmosphere's "Lemons" album was superior to Illmatic, or something silly like that. Liquid Swords is a timeless gem. Perosnally I prefer Only Built 4 Cuban Linx (my all time favorite record), but I can live with LS. You never told me who your top ten were. I'd like to know what other 9 emcees you feel are superior to Nas.

I do personally prefer listening to many of Atmosphere's records to "Illmatic" but that's besides the point. Oh, and OB4CL has the best production of any album imo, but the latter portion of the album falls kind of flat to me and so it falls short of greatness, plus I've always thought Rae was a subpar emcee and the emcees around him (including Nas) keep the album afloat lyrically. Anyways, as you requested: 1. Percee P 2. Rakim 3. KRS-One 4. BDK 5. GZA 6. G Rap 7. Inspectah Deck 8. MF DOOM 9. Common 10. Mos Def 11. Talib Kweli 12. Jeru 13. Nas Etc.

Haha I totally forgot to put Slug in there he'd probably creep in just before Nas at #13.

Nas has been putting out garbage for the past 4 years or so. "Untitled" is a mighty fine door stop or coaster, but as far as albums go, I'll pass. G Rap is working on an album with Raekwon and, while Common's last album was worse than "Untitled", "Finding Forever" dropped in 2007 and that was my second favorite album by him (behind "Like Water For Chocolate"). And besides who gives a fuck what an artist has done lately? This is about overall best, not best right now. If it was best right now, Slug and MF DOOM would be sharing the #1 spot. Speaking of which, yes, I will stand by that both of them are better than Nas imo. DOOM has wittier wordplay and Slug has material that connects with me more (ie: "Yesterday", "Guarantees", "Fuck You Lucy", etc.) and he puts what he says in a more eloquent manner.

I'd rather listen to Untitled than any mf doom albums, at least it doesn't sound like it was produced from inside a toilet while he was taking a shit.

"Madvillainy" is easily the best album of the decade (though i'd personally say "Perseverance" is better but w/e) and "Mm... Food?" is close behind, not to mention "Take Me To Your Leader" which was also AMAZING! "Untitled", on the other hand, should have had this album cover:
